What is “earthing” and how can it help?

There is a lot that can be done over the lunch hour, but today Dr. Faith, Gina, and Dani decided to “earth” or “ground” themselves after eating sandwiches from Carl’s Deli.

Earthing enables individuals to establish a direct connection between their bodies and the Earth, harnessing its inherent electrical charges for stabilization purposes. By walking barefoot, laying down in the grass, gardening, or going swimming, for example, earthing reconnects the conductive human body to the Earth’s natural and subtle surface electric charge.

This practice has been known to reduce inflammation, pain, and stress, and improve blood flow, energy, and sleep. It’s really good for people who experience anxiety or depression have chronic fatigue, are dealing with cardiovascular disease, have post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic memories, or struggle with pain and inflammation, but everyone can benefit from earthing by reaping its health benefits.

All you need is 30 minutes a day, whether it’s walking in the grass without shoes on, digging in the dirt or just laying underneath a tree on a great day like today! You’ll notice our eyes are closed (admittingly awkwardly) because it’s best to lay there with your eyes closed, listening to the rhythms of the world around you.
